The truth of the matter, as far as society goes I have a lot going for me. I’ve worked very hard in life but I’ve ultimately had to work less than individuals who were born into less privileged lives. And as someone who is benefitting from white privilege, it is ignorant and ridiculous of me to make…
Faith this line right here says it all. What white people need to understand is that even if you are at a disadvantage in life because of your socioeconomic status or not being as privileged as say, the rich and famous, doesn’t mean you don’t still carry privilege.
One of the simplest examples of this, that even my 5 and 7 year old daughters understand is this: Think about a band-aid…what does it look like? When it was made, who was in mind when they picked the color? Even something as small as that is made with white people in mind, when it should be made with everyone in mind.
